Audiences Marvel at ‘The Avengers’
The summer blockbuster season started this weekend with Marvel’s “The Avengers,” following years of build-up from other films such as “Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2,” “The Hulk,” “Captain America” and “Thor.” In this movie, each of these titular characters fight side by side, along with lesser-known heroes Hawk-Eye, Black Widow and Nick Fury, who made post-credit cameos in the aforementioned
films.

MOCAD showcases new exhibits centered around urban voices

This weekend the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit opened two exhibitions, Vertical Urban Factory and Post-Industrial Complex, with each show based around an aspect of innercity life. Post-Industrial Complex challenges the idea of a city’s story as a single narrative, instead asserting that it is really the collective sound of many independent voices. Vertical Urban Factory centers on the evolution of factories and other industrial structures across time and international borders and is heavy in content and information.
'Palmer Park' spotlights post-riots Detroit
A story of integration, community and life in Detroit following the riots is told in the play “Palmer Park” by Joanna McClelland Glass, produced by Stagecrafters at The Baldwin Theatre in Royal Oak.
