Wired for the road
The sun is out and cars are cruising downtown. Chido Johnson is the man to see about a car. A car built from wire and creative spunk, that is.
Chazz Miller
Using Detroit as his canvas and knowledge as his compass, Charles “Chazz” Miller is a local artist and muralist with a vision of rejuvenating Detroit by changing its visual landscape. His creativity and works of communal art aim to help change the look and morale of the city he loves.
The Heidelberg Project

The Heidelberg Project

As the Heidelberg Project celebrates its 25th year of existence, art experts in the area see room for growth in Detroit’s artist scene. The man who founded Heidelberg — Dr. Tyree Guyton, who received an honorary degree from the College for Creative Studies in 2010 — is considered by some to be one of the pioneers of the city’s art movement.
Cedric Tai
Created in March, makebrixels.com is the creative collaboration of Cedric Tai, 25, and Dan Marchwinski. The website allows users to create virtual tesselations — elaborate patterns utilizing basic geometric shapes — and Tai chooses a pattern and creates it on a brick wall somewhere in Detroit.
‘Loveland’: Jeff Paffendorf and Mary Carter
Jeff Paffendorf and Mary Carter are a pair of Detroit artists bringing their visions to local communities. Their projects often differ from one another in a creative sense but all equate to the same factor: local upbringing.
